About Me
I am a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Sydney. My research develops trustworthy and explainable AI methods for scientific discovery, large language models, and education. I am particularly interested in explanation disagreement, Rashomon sets, stakeholder-centred interpretability, concept-based LLM monitoring, and responsible AI systems that support human decision-making in scientific and educational contexts.
Before joining the University of Sydney, I was an Assistant Professor at the City University of Macau and a Jubilee Joint Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian National University. I received my PhD in Computational Science from ANU, where my thesis focused on design-driven materials intelligence and explainable machine learning for scientific discovery.
My current research spans four connected directions:
- Stakeholder-centred Explainable AI: Rashomon sets, explanation disagreement, explanation uncertainty, and stakeholder-aligned model selection.
- Trustworthy and Explainable LLMs: concept-based monitoring, reasoning faithfulness, LLM understanding, and agent safety.
- AI for Scientific Discovery: interpretable machine learning for materials science, chemistry, battery compounds, and neuroscience.
- AI in Education: learner-state-aware AI tutoring, LLM-assisted teaching, and responsible use of AI in higher education.
I am open to collaboration with researchers and students interested in explainable AI, trustworthy LLMs, AI for science, and AI-supported education.
